Sebagai langkah nyata untuk memperkuat ketahanan pangan nasional, Gerakan Nasional Tani untuk Kemandirian Pangan atau Genta Pangan telah resmi dibentuk di Kabupaten Malang pada Rabu (26/6). Gerakan ini diinisiasi oleh Tim DPP Seknas Genta Pangan Mandiri, yang bertujuan untuk mendukung program pemerintah terkait ketahanan pangan nasional.
Jerry Lumelle, Ketua Harian Seknas Genta Pangan Mandiri (DPP Genta Pangan), menyampaikan bahwa Genta Pangan akan berperan sebagai mitra yang menggunakan anggaran investasi non-pemerintah. “Kita akan menjadi mitra dan menggunakan anggaran investasi bukan dari anggaran pemerintah. Mohon dukungan dari saudara semua khususnya kelompok petani dan peternak se-Indonesia, kita bersatu bersama membangkitkan kemandirian pangan di negeri sendiri,” ujar Jerry pada Jumat (28/6).
Gerakan ini mendapat dukungan luas dengan partisipasi 30 perwakilan dari kabupaten dan kota se-Jawa Timur, termasuk 25 perwakilan kabupaten dan 5 perwakilan kota yang akan tergabung dalam Genta Pangan. Jerry juga menekankan bahwa gerakan ini akan dimulai dari pusat dan kemudian dikembangkan ke seluruh daerah hingga ke pelosok desa. “Kita seperti network khusus petani dan peternak se-Indonesia, sehingga untuk koordinasi tentang produk-produk yang telah diciptakan di masing-masing daerahnya apa saja yang bisa dikembangkan dan bisa didistribusikan ke rakyat,” jelasnya.
Selain itu, Genta Pangan juga berencana untuk menampung produk yang memenuhi standar makan gratis. Produk-produk ini nantinya akan dibeli oleh pemerintah dan didistribusikan secara aman kepada masyarakat.
“Untuk Demoplot, InsyaAllah Malang ini segera. Malang akan menjadi barometer, pilot projeknya di Kabupaten Malang, karena 80 persen warganya petani dan kita akan jadikan Malang ikon,” tambah Jerry Lumelle, menutup pernyataannya dengan optimisme.
Dengan terbentuknya Genta Pangan, diharapkan akan ada peningkatan signifikan dalam ketahanan pangan Indonesia, khususnya melalui peran aktif petani dan peternak dalam menciptakan kemandirian pangan di negeri ini.
